Honestly, only when I need to make miniatures. My board game friends and I probably don't have enough time for fillers. When I first made the miniatures for this game, the biggest problem was fitting them to the train. Years later, I had to revisit this set, and it turned out that with greater detail, the scale issue disappeared.
